Scope and Rationale
Scope
NACE TM0186 provides a nondestructive test method for evaluating the application of polymeric coatings of 330 to 760 µm (13 to 30 mils) to the internal surfaces of metallic tubular goods used in the oil and gas industry.
Holiday detection of internal tubular coatings of less than 330 µm (13 mils) dry film thickness is addressed in NACE TM0384.
Rationale
TM0186 was created to aid in the identification of areas that do not provide complete barrier protection due to one or more holidays. This is to maximize the mitigation of corrosion in these areas. The updates in this revision reflect advances in the art within the industry.
