abstract
For over 20 years OSHA has been working on getting a Construction Standard for Confined Spaces into the work place and it has finally arrived. This paper will give a brief background on the standard development as well as go over the new standard and definition of what is a confined space. The paper will also show the differences between the new OSHA Construction Industry Confined Space Standard from the General Industry Confined Space Standard and in addition to those differences, there are new provisions that clarify existing requirements in the General Industry Standard.
