Use of Atlas Test Cells to Assess the Performance of Coatings with Varied Permeance over Concrete Masonry Units (CMU)

Cynthia O’Malley

Cindy O’Malley is the Laboratory Services Manager for KTA where she has been employed for 15 years. In this position, she directs all efforts to provide paint, corrosion and material testing services including coatings research, paint failure investigations and compositional analysis. Under Cindy’s supervision, scientists, chemists and research & development specialists provide clients with independent analyses of coatings problems and advance the industry’s understanding of the performance characteristics of protective coatings and abrasive media. Cindy is an SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist and a regular lecturer on the application of analytical chemistry to coating failures, and also on physical testing methods. She is currently involved with developing the Women in Coatings Program with SSPC and is the chair of the Commercial subcommittee, “Field Cleaning and Painting-New Construction and Repaints.” Cindy holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University as well as having completed specialized course work in coating composition and comprehensive analysis sponsored by North Dakota State University.

Steve Revnew

Steve Revnew understands paint from the inside out. A chemist by training and education, Steve practiced his profession in Sherwin-Williams research and development labs before venturing into the world of marketing and sales. During his two-decade tenure with North America’s largest paint manufacturer and retailer, Steve has served as a sales representative, store manager, sales manager and district manager –meaning that not only can he solve complex chemical puzzles, but he can also resolve critical customer concerns, as well. In his current position as director of marketing, product development, Steve is Sherwin-Williams go-to expert for all matters residential, be it those of homebuilder or homeowner interests – and many markets in between.

Steve is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, and the American Marketing Association.
