Abstract
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) actively participates in the administration of two separate programs for qualification of coating systems through performance evaluation. The first administered through the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP), with Kentucky serving as the Lead State. The second program is administered by KYTC as a partnership with the University of Kentucky. The first program targets systems to be applied over abrasively blasted, bare steel substrates while the second program evaluates systems for overcoating applications.
