Owners and consultants are faced with a challenging decision when contemplating the painting or maintenance of a coating on a water storage tank. The tank’s location, the Owner’s tolerance, budget and weather restraints are competing concerns when considering whether to specify containment or not. Two case studies, one that resulted in containment and one that did not, are presented. An objective analysis will factor economic considerations for the project but a wholistic approach to the Owner’s concerns will include the tolerance of the rate payers and the community.
