This paper examines recent changes in regulatory requirements, national standards development and training programs related to coating specialists assigned to develop and maintain safety-related coatings programs in commercial nuclear power generating facilities. Recent information promulgated by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission concerning safety-related coatings has prompted industry to develop innovative training and personnel development programs for specialists in this discipline.
