Abstract
Photographs of abrasive blasted and water jetted surfaces taken at microscopic levels have shown that the water jetted surface appears rougher as magnification increases, whereas the abrasive blasted surface appears smoother as magnification increases. The subject paper is a status report of an ongoing Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) study. The study investigates coating performance over water jetted surfaces with several different secondary surface preparation methods.
