Coating systems are critical in the mitigation of corrosion on pipelines and their integrated parts. Epoxies offer a multitude of positive characteristics including: high adhesion at a chemical level, excellent abrasion resistance, and reduced water permeation rates when compared to vinyl esters. A newly engineered cold weather epoxy (“Epoxy-20F”) improves upon these epoxy characteristics and exceeds that of vinyl esters.

The Epoxy-20F is a cold-weather coating system formulated on true epoxy chemistry that has been engineered across multiple facets to outperform the standard epoxy and vinyl ester coatings currently being implemented for girth weld protection applications. In-depth engineering allows Epoxy-20F to cure 15 degrees lower than the current lowest cold-weather epoxy coating at 20°F. This allows for Epoxy-20F to excel against current epoxy and vinyl ester cold-weather alternative systems.
