Abstract
Most capital projects in the energy market face significant cost overrun issues. There is a real need for innovation to improve productivity; reduce the need for completion on site and to minimise the annual operations maintenance budget.
By optimising the coating specification we can increase the likelihood of paint completion during the project while increasing productivity and quality. Thus the chances of the project being completed in time are increased and the lifetime maintenance costs reduced.
This paper will show the cost reduction benefits of using an optimised two coat paint system compared to a standard three coat system. The benefits will be demonstrated for the building contractor and the operating owner.
Learning objectives
Show that a 40% increase in painting productivity is possible
Reduced application related risk and rework
Improved painting quality
Improve profitability for building yard and operator
