Abstract
Corrosion resistance performance requirements of coatings varies across the wide range of markets. As an example, a coating technology developed for protecting aircraft aluminum alloys may not provide sufficient protection for steel assets such as bridges and large industrial parts. The design and protective mechanism of the coatings must match the application. In this paper, development of environmentally friendly corrosion resistant primers for varied markets will be discussed. Utilization of analytical and electrochemical methods towards the development process will be shared. Corrosion resistance performance evaluation method will be briefly reviewed.
