Abstract
Erosion wear is an important cause of oil well tubes failure in injection and production wells. Erosion-corrosion behavior of N80 steel in wet gas pipeline with high gas velocity was studied by high temperature high pressure flow loop. The effects of temperature, pressure and wall shear stress on erosion-corrosion were examined. Corrosion rates of different testing periods were measured through weight-loss method. For environmental conditions considered in this study, synergism occurred due to the effect of corrosion in enhancing erosion. The critical shear stress coefficient, needed for identifying the erosion-corrosion behavior of N80 steel, was obtained from experimental data.
