Abstract
Stress Corrosion Cracking of pipelines is controlled by several environmental, material, and loading factors. Therefore, SCCDA requires the operators to collect and analyze a lot of historic and current data to prioritize the protection of highly susceptible pipeline segments. For pre assessment, SCCDA provides a list of factors that could be collected and attempts to rank them. Many of these factors have high uncertainty and could be related to each other making collection of all of these factors redundant. There is a lack of an approach that includes these factors and considers their uncertainty to provide a time dependent assessment of risk. A modeling approach which can be combined with a pre-assessment step of SCCDA is required to help prioritize this collection and do a post assessment based on the uncertainty of the variables. A comprehensive model encompassing most of the factors affecting SCC was proposed earlier. In this paper a methodology to integrate this model for threat assessment due to SCC is proposed.
