Abstract
Corrosion resistant alloys are widely used in many industrial processes. They include a wide range of materials from 13%Cr martensitic stainless steels up to nickel-based alloys. Among them, duplex materials have aroused great interest for various applications: pulp & paper, thermal desalination and oil & gas industries.
This paper reviews stress corrosion cracking data related to some duplex stainless steel grades in chloride-containing media. Experimental data obtained from various techniques (slow strain rate, constant load, U-bend and four point bending) are reported. The objective is to point out the influence of some key parameters such as temperature and chloride content on the resistance of these grades.
