Abstract
Stainless steel rebar is finding increased application in infrastructure projects for which long-term resistance to de-icing salts or marine environments is required. Applications date back 20 years in North America and longer in Europe. Built with stainless steel rebar, a pier on the sea coast of Mexico is still in good condition after 60 years of service. The benefits of using stainless steel rebar will be reviewed and examples of infrastructure projects will be presented.
