Abstract
Digital signal processing techniques provide an ideal means for real time analysis of signals acquired at the low acquisition rates typically used with electrochemical noise measurement. One of the major problems associated with the application of electrochemical corrosion measurements has been the real time analysis of the data to enable continuous trending of corrosion parameters within the same time frame as other process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow. Traditionally the data from corrosion monitoring activity has been analyzed and interpreted retrospectively. With the increasing use of embedded processing technology, the development of algorithms to analyze and present the results of the analyses in real time has become a reality using digital signal processing techniques.
This paper illustrates how these techniques can be used effectively to analyze electrochemical noise signals.
