Abstract
Fiber glass reinforced plastics (FRP) have become well accepted materials in products for industrial and leisure time applications. The many benefits of FRP over other materials of construction in corrosive environments are mainly due to the resins chemical nature, mechanical properties, together with their low density and lower cost. Among the many corrosion resistant resins available today, Bisphenol “A” type resins are accounted as those most successful performing in alkali and acid environments. This paper will describe the performance of modified Bisphenol “A” resins to acid and base environments, the mechanical characteristics and damage occurred during extended times and temperatures.
