Severe corrosive environments of the Chemical Process Industry have challenged Companies to find creative ways to lower maintenance and replacement costs related to the life cycle of piping systems. Dual laminate piping offers a number of valuable ways in which to address these concerns and lessen environmental impact due to emission releases. Eliminating the need for external painting for life of system and minimizing the number of flanges in an entire piping configuration are the obvious two advantages. However, making dual laminates available for everyday retrofit applications are the key factor in broadening the overall usage.

This paper will discuss dual laminate piping construction and how the mentioned advantages are utilized versus thermoplastic lined steel systems. Also, it will discuss how retrofit applications are best implemented, proper design and installation of piping supports and the various ways to make dual laminate pipe an everyday retrofit choice for dealing with corrosive fluid handling systems.
