Abstract
Prior to start-up and hydro testing of two subsea pipelines, leakages occurred at one anode attachment plate on each pipeline early spring 2002. Furthermore the cracking had in both cases initiated at the super duplex fillet weld toe and the direct cause of the leakages were stresses and strains together with hydrogen embrittlement from cathodic protection. This paper describes the subsequent examination, relevant testing and evaluation.
