Abstract
Recent failure analyses of thermoplastic liners in high-pressure, gas pipeline service show that thin wall, loose liners are susceptible to irreversible axial buckling. Such buckles eventually lead to liner breach and failure. The redesign of the liner included a tight, thick liner for high collapse resistance and a continuous venting system. The unique installation aspects regarding the externally grooved liner used for the project are also described.
