Abstract
Coated steel and fiberglass stick pipe have been widely used in line pipe applications both onshore and offshore. However, steel is susceptible to internal and external corrosion, which requires continuous corrosion inhibition systems and cathodic protection. And the costs of welding continue to increase.
Fiberglass (FRP) stick or jointed pipe has been successful as line pipe, but the cost of joining 10 meter joints increases each year.
Spoolable Carbon Composites (SCC) offers advantages in many line pipe applications. These applications primarily include production lines, injection lines, gas gathering and supercritical CO2 injection.
