Abstract
In this work we describe electrochemical interface and stability of a multiphase system, such as Fe-Cl-CO2-H2S under hydrodynamic conditions. Due to the fact that control of corrosion is the major concern in the petroleum industry, specifically in environments which include carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and clorine, many organic inhibitors have been used to mitigate corrosion. This control has been focused mainly in pipelines and production equipment. By applying different electrochemical methodologies to X-65 carbon steel in the presence of CO2 and H2S, and moreover in the presence of amine based inhibitors, it was determined the film kinetics of X-65 steel for the system Fe-CO2-Cl-H2O.
