Abstract
Perusal of literature on corrosion inhibitors reveals that most of the research work in this field has been done on evaluation of corrosion inhibitors in various corrosive environments. There are only few reports on tailoring and synthesis of corrosion inhibitors. In the present work synthesis and design of few effective classes of corrosion inhibitor has been described and the influence of inductive, resonance effect, ring size and nature and number of heteroatoms, carbon chain length, functional groups, double bond on inhibiting performance of Cls have been discussed.
