Abstract
The paper reviews the “windows” where protective films are formed when corrosive gases, H2S, CO2, and mixtures of H2S and CO2 are present in the production of gas and oil. Parameters affecting the protective nature of the films include, temperature, partial pressure of acid gas, pH, brine content, and velocity. Guidelines for determining the conditions where protective films will be generated under production conditions are reviewed.
