Abstract
Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) are widely used as components of anticorrosive polymer films. Although the list of VCI is fairly long, reliable data of non-toxicity and safety are available for only a small number of these substances. The most important data about carcinogenicity and genotoxicity for VCI are extremely rare. In this paper, the present situation in this field is analyzed and some recommendations are given.
