Abstract
The public and regulatory’ bodies will increasingly demand that process industries operate plants with a higher level of equipment integrity’ during the New Millennium. In addition, tighter limits will also be placed on corrosion products tolerated in plant products and waste streams. This will require materials and corrosion engineers to apply innovative equipment design, fabrication, inspection and operating practices to meet these new challenges. The necessary engineering considerations and processes for material selection, corrosion control and equipment integrity reassurance to achieve these goals are outlined.
