Abstract
A new ISO CP standard for offshore pipelines will be issued in 2004. The new ISO standard encompasses the current, field proven, design practices of the major offshore oil and gas pipeline operators. The major changes from previous standards are in the areas of potential criteria, design current densities and in the coating breakdown factors. This paper explains the improvements in these areas and suggests a way forward for future publication of CP standards.
