Abstract
This improved resin and laminate system for corrosion-resistant (CR) process equipment is comprised of a corrosion barrier fabricated using a premium corrosion-resistant vinyl ester for superior corrosion resistance, fracture toughness, and workability, backed by a structural wall fabricated using a vinyl polyester resin with mechanical properties equal to those of the vinyl ester family, and workability that is equal to or better than most conventional vinyl ester resins.
This paper further presents laboratory data that substantiates the corrosion resistance of vinyl polyester resin and the steps necessary to assure a successful FRP project.
