Abstract
Water treatment of closed cooling water systems often receives little attention until problems occur. Switching from chromate to non-chromate may create problems unless proper monitoring is utilized. Guidelines for application of molybdate/nitrite/and new inhibitors are provided. Case histories identify potential problems and methods for minimizing them through rapid actions. Closed cooling water systems require specific water treatments that differ for various industries – these are identified and reviewed.
