Abstract
Mineral scale formation in heat transfer equipment has always been an issue in industrial systems and organic polymers have been used to inhibit its accumulation. A new, naturally derived, non-toxic biodegradable organic polymer has been developed, which provides both scale inhibition and corrosion control. This polypeptide has been tested in the field in open recirculating cooling systems and in closed hot and chilled water loops. Field experience with the use of this polymer is discussed.
