Abstract
Six commercially available Ag/AgCl reference cells were tested under various environmental conditions to ascertain the stability and drift of the half-cells when exposed to changes in seawater temperature, conductivity and flow. Results showed there can be a large variability within reference cell vendor batches and the offset between different reference cells can be greater that ± 10mV. Generally, the half-cells responded in a similar manner to the environmental changes, but there were differences in response time and reversibility under some conditions.
