Coating wet metal surfaces is usually avoided because most coatings do not bond properly to wet surfaces and coating failure is expected. Epoxies have now been developed that can be applied to wet surfaces, cure properly and perform within acceptable test limits required by most pipeline companies for submersed or buried services.
