Summary
A polymaleic acid (PMA) specific antibody test kit has been developed to monitor PMA in cooling water systems. This method has been used to confirm the Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) curve for PMA alone and with a phosphonate in pilot cooling water tests. A number of field tests were conducted with the antibody test kit that demonstrate the value of monitoring the PMA for deposit control and system efficiency.
