Abstract
Problems with rubber linings have persisted as long as rubber lined vessels and pipe have been in existence. Using modern methods of analysis, however, it is usually possible to identify root causes of rubber lining failures. This paper will discuss some proven test methods for utilizing rubber chemical analyses, physical testing and microscopy as aids in solving rubber lining field problems. A description of relevant tests, their meaning and utility is provided in the context of a failure analysis scenario.
