Abstract
Many specifications are now requiring soluble salts be tested for, and not exceed specific levels. Inspectors are required to test for these levels, but often the specifier either does not instruct them as to a required test method or how to deal with differing efficiencies of various test methods. Inspectors often lack sufficient information on how to make a determination of whether the requirements are being met, resulting in confusion and sometimes even confrontation.
