This paper reviews the surface preparation standards used in various countries around the world with the intention of determining whether there is a prevailing or common standard in use. Discussions with users in Europe, United Kingdom, Middle East, Japan, Australia and Venezuela have revealed a trend away from National standards towards International Standards.
