Abstract
The use of fluoropolymer coatings to solve a variety of problems is on the rise — especially in the field of fastener applications. As a result, confusion about where to use fasteners and how to specify them is a problem.
Fluoropolymer coatings offer a wide range of performance characteristics. Further, they can be customized to many different end uses. Most other coatings, on the other hand, generally provide only limited service. This paper will clarify the confusion, spell out the proper areas for use and, in particular, describe how to specify fluoropolymer coatings for use on threaded fasteners.
