Abstract
From a user’s perspective, leak detection systems on dual laminate (fluoropolymer/fiberglass reinforced plastic) tanks and vessels are desirable. Leak detection systems can reduce the frequency of required internal visual/spark test inspections and alert the owner to liner problems before serious structural damage can be done. This paper describes leak and preleak detection systems installed on dual laminate vessels and problems encountered with these systems. The performance of 12 dual laminate systems is reviewed: 2 with no leak detection systems, 3 with leak detection systems and 7 with preleak detection systems.
