Abstract
The Ibero-American Program for Scientific and Technological Development (CYTED) is an international multilateral program created in 1984 within a framework agreement ratified by the 21 Ibero-American countries. The program contains 16 different international subprograms covering a broad spectrum of scientific and technological fields. As a part of the CYTED Subprogram XV (Corrosion and environmental impact on materials) the Ibero-American Research Network XV.c (BIOCORR) on Biocorrosion and Biofouling in Industrial Systems, has been contributing since 1993 to the dissemination of knowledge in the field, with the participation of 10 different countries. To illustrate its attainments, the network contents, background, main goals and transference actions are successively described in this article. The recent English edition of the Practical Manual of Biocorrosion for the Industry, is also presented.
