Abstract
The phenomenon of ripple in Direct Current(DC) Cathodic Protection (CP) circuits, resulting from the use of single phase Alternating Current (AC) rectifiers, is not well understood by most cathodic protection personnel. This paper discusses studies conducted in an attempt to verify the existence and magnitude of this ripple and differences in corrosion rates, if any, between filtered and unfiltered rectified DC current.
