Abstract
The production of aluminum anodes used for the cathodic protection of offshore structures and pipelines is a complex process. Various types of production anomalies have been observed during the inspection of these anodes. The anomalies were compiled over the past ten years and many of the examples occurred in foundries no longer producing anodes. They are noted in this paper to aid the reader in better understanding the complexities of anode casting and to highlight some of the types of anomalies that can occur.
