Abstract
Models suitable for presenting corrosion knowledge in a compact form and their use in an expert system are described. The emphasis is put on semi-empirical models to cover the effects of all reasonable combinations of the variables to be taken into account. Simple mathematical expressions are used to include the effects of the values of the main environmental variables on both uniform and localized corrosion of stainless steels as well as on bimetallic corrosion.
