The report deals with the German training and examination system for welders and welding personnel. Subject of the report are as well the training and testing of personnel in general plastic welding according to DVS guideline 2212/1 as well as welders for piping systems in the public gas and water supply.

The report gives an overview of the procedure to become a plastics welder in Germany. Both the practical and the theoretical segments of the examination are described. In order to allow objective test results, the practical segment of the examination is standardized.

An equivalent procedure is standardized for the examination of welders for PE-HD pipes in the gas and water supply.
