Abstract
The advantages and difficulties of trying to present corrosion knowledge in the form of expert systems are discussed. When comparing expert systems with e.g. handbooks and corrosion tables, the use of the strengths of computers, especially the high computational speed, are emphasized. Some guidelines for designing the user interface are discussed, including the five primary interaction styles and the ’Eight golden rules’.
