Abstract
Trucking companies that transport acids and other corrosives seem to be shifting from traditional acid trailers to general purpose chemical trailers. The motivation would appear to be twofold: Additional crash protection has been mandated, for acid tanks, and this has increased weight. A wider range of corrosive products can now be transported in general purpose chemical tanks. Aluminum and fiberglass materials may breathe new life into the traditional acid tank.
