Abstract
Corrosion resistant alloys have been used in marine environments for their corrosion resistance. However, some of these materials are prone to localized corrosion, in particular crevice and pitting corrosion, in natural seawater. Injection water normally consists of de-oxygenated seawater, but, more recently either continuously or 'batch' chlorinated and fully oxygenated seawater has been selected for this purpose because of their cost benefits.
This investigation covers testing of corrosion resistant materials to aid in the selection of materials for wellhead equipment in an oxygenated and chlorinated seawater injection environment.
