Abstract
Zero-resistance ammeter measurements and a 23 full factorial statistical experimental design were used to determine the effects of pH, oxygen, and red rust on the cathodic half cell reaction on corroding electrogalvanized steel. Analysis of variance indicated that the red rust reduction reaction was dominant. The recently developed galvanic corrosion/mechanical wedging model for underfilm corrosion of painted galvanized steel is thus supported.
