The performance of AS4/3501-6 composite material exposed to various chloride containing solutions were compared using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. Degradation of the composite material was probably by moisture absorption versus electrochemical processes as no significant difference was noted between the various chloride solution attacks of the polymer surfaces. Little difference between the surfaces exposed to the different solutions was noted, the exception being the crystallites formed in the chloride solutions at -900mV potentials. Impedance analysis over periods up to 30 days has shown a high correlation between damage and frequency response.
