Abstract
A corrosion model developed under a recent SHRP project is used topredict the service life of high performance concrete (HPC)in bridge structures. Experimental results by others are used to develop a relation between the quantity of applied deicing salts and the chloride driving concentration used by the model. Similarly a relation is developed using existing data to relate concrete permeability and chloride diffusion constants used by the model. Results show that a significant increase in service life can be achieved using HPC.
