The use of plural component spray equipment is not new. In fact in the 50's it was already used for solvent free material with a high viscosity at room temperature and a very short potlife. Since then the equipment has been improved and gradually more successful applications took place. Still the majority of applications were in the pipe coatings field external as well as internal.

Lately plural component spray equipment has come more in use because of the environmental and waste regulations which make it necessary to minimize the release of solvents and reduce the amount of "empty" cans.

This paper will address the advantages and disadvantages of this spray technique and will point out the effect of many variables on the coating side as well as the equipment side on the final results.
