Abstract
The USEPA 503 rule regulates the disposal of hazardous materials from POTWs. Zinc containing treatments play a dominant role in corrosion control for potable water systems, but are subject to the 503 rule limitation. This paper shows how to calculate the zinc loading in POTWs and what non-zinc chemistries are applicable to potable water systems.
